WHAM Day Ride – Welsh Lakes

Full day ride.
Please arrive at 08:30 for a 09:00 start.
Starting at Starbucks in Wooferton, Leg 1 takes us through Prestiegn and Llanbister mountain road then heads up the twisty bits of the A483 towards Newtown. The route then tuns off to Llandiloes where we head for the first lake of the ride, Llyn Clywedog Reservoir (note that the Red Kite Kiosk is closed). The road narrows here around the lake (great views) before leg 1 ends for Brunch at Cafe Draig in Llanbrynmair.
Leg 2 uses the main A470 to Dinas Mawddy then heads off into Snowdonia National Park for a complete change of scenery. We then head up the North sIde of Lake Bala (those with small fuel tanks are recommended to fill up in the town). Then is over another scenic mountain road to Lake Vyrnwy and its visitor centre for refreshments.
Leg 3 heads back along some of the best roads that Mid-Wales and Shropshire have to offer to our start point at Wooferton.

All riders are reminded to check the weather forecast before each ride. If the temperature falls below 3 degrees please remember that the road temperature can be lower and there will be a risk of black ice. In addition heavy flooding and high winds add considerable risks to motorcyclists. WHAM will not normally cancel rides due to weather conditions so it is up to each rider to make their own decision whether it is safe to ride or not.
