Worcester & Hereford Advanced Motorcyling

WHAM! is a local Motorcycle Club based in Herefordshire & Worcestershire affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists and we focus on improving your enjoyment of motorcycling and helping you to improve your safety on the road.

Last year WHAM! helped 33 associates through their training and onto success at their Advanced Test.

If you are interested in advanced motorcycling and the IAM "Skill for Life" programme, please see the Skill For Life page.

We run Skill for Life on days and at times to suit you and your assigned observer. We also meet every Sunday for a group ride starting at McDonalds in Worcester (departure is 9:00 in summertime; 9:30 in wintertime).
Associate members and prospective members are welcome to join the ride on the first Sunday of each month when observers will be available.

Prospective new members: either come along on the first Sunday of the month or contact our Membership Secretary to arrange another convenient date.

Associate members: may join other Sunday rides by invitation from their observer.

What is Advanced Motorcycling ?

Advanced motorcycling is the ability to control the position and speed of the machine safely, systematically and smoothly, using road and traffic conditions to make reasonable progress unobtrusively, with skill and responsibility.
This skill requires a positive but courteous attitude and a high standard of riding competence based on concentration, effective all round observation, anticipation and planning. All this must be co-coordinated with good handling skills.
The motorcycle will always be at the right place on the road at the right time, travelling at the right speed with the correct gear engaged and can always be stopped safely in the distance that can be seen to be clear.

Please do drop by on a "first-Sunday-of-the-month" morning for an informal chat and/or to join us on one of our rides.
We look forward to seeing you.
